Mining and Infrastructure
JWA has prepared impact assessments, rehabilitation and threatened species management plans, including the implementation of environmental monitoring programs, for numerous resource extraction and linear infrastructure projects, both in QLD and NSW.
Some of our major Mining and Infrastructure projects include:
Newcrest Mining Pty Ltd engaged JWA between 1990 and 1992 to develop, implement and manage Environmental Management Plans for the Browns Creek and Parkes Gold Mines, and Woodburn Mineral Sands. We developed restoration plans, and implemented and managed the restoration, including all monitoring and reporting.
Noranda Pacific Pty Ltd (Noranda) engaged JWA to work on the Lady Loretta Mining Project, Mt Isa. The Lady Loretta Project includes construction and operation of an underground lead-zinc-silver mine and associated infrastructure. JWA completed a Flora and Fauna Assessment of the project borefield, for inclusion in the Development Application, in accordance with the Integrated Planning Act, 1997.
Guinane Pty Ltd engaged JWA to complete a Flora and Fauna Assessment and a Species Impact Statement, to accompany the Development Application for the expansion of the Chinderah Sand Quarry. The expansion has subsequently been approved and JWA has prepared a Wetland Rehabilitation and Landscape Management Plan (2009).

We also completed a Rehabilitation Plan for the area to be implemented when sand extraction activities cease.
